My Five Senses...and where I can use them!

Reception had a fabulous day out last week in search of ways to use their senses...which ones do you think you would use when you visit the Taffy factory? They listened when they were told how the various sweets were made; they saw the Taffy being cut and wrapped; they were able to smell the delicious, sweet aroma of the Taffy and the chocolate; they felt the stickiness of the Taffy and the crinkly papers they are wrapped in...and finally they were able to taste their chocolate covered pretzels...mmmmmm!!

After that they went to Dolphin Discovery where they were allowed to go in the water with the dolphins and feel how smooth and soft they are - they had to listen VERY carefully to the instructions. What a great day out!

Colour Mixing

We had great fun mixing primary colours to see what other colours we could make. We mixed them by putting one hand in one colour and one hand in another colour of paint...we printed with our hands - and then we rubbed our hands together to see what would happen...you can see too!!

What can you see?

The Reception class are finding out about their five senses...and here they are reading the display story that they made based on the book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?" by Bill Martin Jr. The children had all painted their own pictures of animals - and in the end, "what do you see?" - the children themselves, of course!

Karate Yellow Belt

Year 1 has a karate star! Chrissie attends our Monday after school club with Sensei (Teacher) Reid and she also attends his classes in Georgetown on a Saturday. She is our first pupil to attend on a Saturday too - and our first to gain a grading. Well done!

Virtual Hawaii

Our class went on a virutal trip to Hawaii with Mr Mark Ray, our ICT mentor. We are learning about celebrations and we know that Hawaii celebrates in very special ways. Mr Ray set up our new Mimio board and we were able to take our trip. We looked at the kinds of things they do and we drew ourselves into some of the pictures. We enjoyed our trip to Hawaii!

Maths Day

We had great fun on Friday - we were doing Maths all day! We liked playing with the Bee Bots and we took lots of photographs of shapes and numbers around the school.
